When did you leave the house?

When was the first time you left the house after surgery? I'm already getting stir crazy and I'm only 2 days post op! I feel fine but I don't wanna leave the house and end up not feeling fine. What did you guys do? And what helped you not feel stir crazy?

I walked outside the day after I got home from surgery. I walked with my bf. We didn't go far but it felt fabulous!

The next day.

surgery dsy, I walked in the halls at the hospital, then dsy after surgery I made short trips around outside.

I can't remember - maybe the third day? Just start by walking around the block or something. Then if you start feeling bad (which you probably won't), at least you'll be close to home and can get back quickly.

One word of advice: For the first month or so, I could go from "feeling great, could run a marathon" to "OMG I need to sit down NOW!" in seconds. This would happen if I overdid it, or let myself get slightly dehydrated. So as you begin to venture outside the house, make sure you have water with you at all times, and make sure there will be places to rest where you're going.

You don't want to end up sitting on the floor in a supermarket like I did! That was embarassing.
