Bad case of head hunger!
For some reason this past week I have been struggling with head hunger even more than usual! It's driving me crazier than I already am! I am hungry all the time even after I have eaten full meals. I don't understand why some days are worse than others and not sure how to get past this. Any insights would be appreciated.

how often are you eating? I eat 6-8 times a day, small protein forward meals. Usually about every 2-3 hours while awake. I couldn?t get by and get enough nourishment with any less.
edited to add: are you craving junk? That would be head hunger. If the thought of eating protein is just as appealing as junk then you need more real nourishment.
also dehydration mimics hunger. Try drinking more snd see if that helps st all. How many ounces do you currently drink?
I normally eat 4 times a day but at times I crave and eat junk even when I shouldn't be hungry. I just grab what is easy and quick. I shouldn't keep bad foods around I know but they are supposedly "not for me" when I buy them. I am drinking a lot of water-at least 6-8 cups a day. Have a bad habit with using more salt than I should though. I need to work on that. Thanks for responding!
A few miscellaneous ideas that might help:
My strategy is to avoid telling myself "no". Instead, I tell myself "later". If later comes, and I still want it, then I have it. The only real "no-no" that I have is sugar, because I find it addictive.
If I feel "hungry" but I suspect it's head hunger, I drink a glass of water. A half hour or so later, if I'm still hungry, I assume it's real hunger, and have something to eat.
Are you bored with your usual meals? If so, try something new.
Are you bored in general? It wouldn't be surprising, considering the pandemic has restricted our activities. Maybe you need a new hobby, something that you can get really involved in.
I have learned that it's natural (for anyone, not just us) to occasionally want to eat even when we're not hungry. I find that it's usually a particular stimulus I'm looking for. I try to always have some "fun" foods on hand. For example: crunchy foods like carrot sticks, chewy foods like sultanas/raisins, good-smelling things like herbal tea. My favourite fun food is pomegranate seeds, because each seed is a little explosion of juice and flavour.
There are days when I eat more, often twice as many calories as my typical days. I have learned not to worry about those times, or try to restrict myself, unless it lasts more than a couple of days. I know you said that it's been a whole week, but I just wanted to point out that there is a natural fluctuation.
Thank you Wombat so very much for your ideas and insights. Boredom is definitely an issue for me. My cravings are salt and chocolate usually. So I find myself grabbing a handful of something salty more often than I should. I used to love pomegranate seeds and completely forgot about them. I am trying to remember if I have ever seen pomegranates at the grocery store here? Putting those on my shopping list!
I am feeling this big time too. for the last year and a half. I've gained about 50 pounds and I know it's because of mindless eating. being in my house is difficult because I am cooped up and the kitchen is RIGHT THERE! at least when I was working from my office, I couldn't just go to the fridge.
