What's for dinner on Christmas and Christmas Eve?

We usually don't do a special meal on Christmas Eve. When I was younger, Christmas Eve always meant take out food. Christmas Day we are finally going to have the Prime Rib that we wanted for Thanksgiving. With baked potato, sweet potato and corn on the cob. Even though we can't have a big family gathering, we will make it a great day with lot's of FaceTimes. No fancy appetizers because my father can't each much. For desert, Ambrosia and home made cookies.

What's on your menu? I might want to steal some ideas for New Years day.

Christmas Eve, I make my traditional evening meal of tamales, homemade chili, chips and queso, and various snacks. It's morphed a bit over the years because it's vegan now, but still VERY tasty.

Christmas Day, I will do a traditional dinner for hubs and mother in law where they have meat of their choice (ham, roast, steak, whatever) and I will do all the sides and rolls.

It's just the three of us this year so it will be small, but definitely a feast.

HEB is where I get my tamales! I'm not a tamale snob, and I was super happy to find vegan ones for me, and pork/chicken for hubs/mother in law!

Oh how I love tamales! I love just about all Mexican food. I think I will try to figure out how to make them in 2021. I have never really tried because it seems so time consuming but the place I used to get authentic tamales didn't open this year due to the virus. Now I really want some!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I wish I knew how to make them! I need to find a nice Mexican family to adopt me into their home for a Saturday, and let me bring some supplies and hang out, and take my couple of dozen home!

It's only two of us so we're having charcuterie for Christmas Eve and then we have lobster and king crab legs for Christmas Day.

Im not bothering with sides. I need no encouragement to eat extra , but I am making a keto key lime cheesecake for dessert

oooo...charcuterie for Christmas Eve is a great idea! Although we probably won't do it this year - but I'm going to remember that for the future!

nothing special on Christmas Eve. Ordinarily my mom has everyone over that evening and has heavy appetizers, but we're not getting everyone together this year. It'll probably be a normal eating day for us...

for Christmas day, lasagna has become more-or-less our tradition the last few years. Even though there will just be three of us, I'm going to make it anyway since it freezes well. I used to make one with sliced zucchini or eggplant instead of noodles for the dieters and a regular one for everyone else, but I've just been doing the regular one that last couple of years - I've been pretty good at controlling myself. I'll also make a Caesar salad to go with it.
