Wrinkles after weight loss! Help!
Since I have lost a lot of weight, I have noticed the wrinkles on my face have increased and are more pronounced. Darn it. Seeing more wrinkles on my body too but it's the face that bothers me the most. Anyone else experiencing this and if so, what creams or serums etc have you found most helpful?
You betcha. I was in my mid-40's when I had my WLS after decades of obesity. I'm now 63 and you bet I have wrinkles. Unfortunately no creams or serums will help, sorry. The skin loses it's elasticity when it's stretched from obesity. If you've been obese for a while the skin simply won't bounce back.

I forgot to mention facial exercises ! They REALLY WORK !
Google the You Tube videos of people making VERY STRANGE EXPRESSIONS lol... and you can also read the stuff from the folks who started this in the eighties explaining facial anatomy and what muscles each exercise actually affects .
I do them ALL THE TIME at red lights lol ! ( Thank God I have tinted windows )
I have definitely noticed a tightening of my double chin/jowl area after I do them , also the nonexistence of naso-labial folds ( I used to have them in my twenties - no longer and without any injections or fillers ) and have no wrinkles around the lips.
Try it once and see the results - they're THAT good ! hugs
It's natural for that to happen. Fat pushes out the skin making everything taut and smooth. When you lose the fat, the skin reacts much like a deflated balloon.
I have had the same thing happen to me, but I like to think of it like this:
It's better to be thin and wrinkly than smooth and fat.
Healthier, too.
On top on what everyone mentioned, I lost weight in 7-8 months. My face lost a lot of fat. 1-2 years later, I was still a goal or below, but my face looked my better. We call that fat redistribution. First few years after I lost all my weight, I got some botox to prevent deep wrinkles forming. I got botox 1 to 2 x a year. App 8-9 years after the RNY I decided to get the face lift. I hated my "drooping jowls". I still get botox when I get really skinny and loose lot of underlying fat on my face. (i.e. last year I dropped 15 lbs under my goal and "I looked tired")

You might be able to get some small, but noticeable improvement with less drastic treatments than plastic surgery. If you have some areas that bother you a little, but you're not sure if they're enough to warrant plastic surgery, it might be just enough.
How far out from surgery are you / how long has it been since you lost most of the weight? The reason I ask, is that my skin looked the worst about nine months after surgery, because I had stubborn little bits of fat in odd places (like under the ***** in addition to the loose skin. As those last little bits of fat went away, and I learned how to take better care of my skin, things improved a little. The wattle under my neck is not as noticeable, now my neck looks pretty normal for my age (60).
I have learned a lot from a dermatologist on YouTube called Dr. Dray, and it has definitely improved the appearance of my skin, both face and body. She recently did a video and another one on saggy skin. One thing I find helpful is that she discusses the scientific evidence (or lack thereof) for various ingredients. She also shows how you can find inexpensive but equally good alternatives to various products. She doesn't have a cosmetic line of her own to hawk. She does sometimes do sponsored videos, but I think they're always for non-cosmetic things (e.g. pillows, a coffee subscription service), so I feel her product reviews are honest. When I have been able to check her advice with other sources I trust, it checks out.
In the last decade or so, a lot of new, less invasive techniques have become available that might be helpful if you only need a little improvement to feel comfortable with your appearance. The second video I linked to has a good discussion of that.

Thank you for the thread here, I have been looking for some advice and tips on it too. Maybe I should also try some skin care products? Like those from Canada Drugs, for example. I would appreciate any input on those from you here, thank you in advance!

Tell me about it darling! It's an unusual feeling to lose over 20 kg in half a year with hard work in the gym and dedication when it comes to your diet and suddenly look older when you ought to shine and be full of life! Did that facial exercises as well trying also to trim my chin down but honestly things are getting better just because I took the matter in my hands and threw in the mix https://www.cofttek.com/nicotinamide-mononucleotide/ supplement powder. I guess it was all about dealing with the issues within the body as well as the face to be able to get where you want exactly!
After my wife gave birth to our son she lost weight and had wrinkles because of stress and other things. Now she leads a healthy lifestyle, does some physical exercises, and eats healthily. She loves all the cosmetic stuff like creams, lotions and etc., so I found a great anti-aging cream at Healthcanal that helped her a lot. She says her skin looks so healthy and fresh. I don't want to say I didn't love her when she had some wrinkles, this didn't bother me, I just knew it bothered her and that's why I ordered that cream for her. Sometimes I also use this cream because it's a great moisturizer.
