Just had bariatric revision from sleeve to bypass and i am stuck
Hello every one I need help I had revision done on the 9/16/2020 and I am still learning from this change I lost 20 already but now just staying the same weight. Please help if you can
Did your surgeon tell you that 20 pounds is the typical weight lost with a revision? To lose more than that you will need to be very careful of how many calories you are eating and how much exercise you are doing.
Revision is not like the first surgery where the weight just drops off. That is a once in a lifetime thing. Talk to your surgeon and nutritionist about what you can do and how much weight loss you can expect this time. Don't expect it to just happen. It will be a lot of hard work.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Yes just talk to her today and she said around a month you hit a stop then it starts back coming off and I should lose like 90 pounds . I'm still doing liquids not hungry at all .
Because you will now have malabsorption of the food that you eat, you will be able to lose more weight than if you had had just a sleeve revision. You will still need to do the work of restricting calories and exercise. And you will need to develop habits that will last you for a lifetime. The malabsorption from a bypass goes away and the body learns how to absorb calories even better than before the surgery.
MyFitnessPal is a wonderful app to track everything. Attend support meetings. You might like to join our daily menu thread on the RNY board to get ideas of what others are eating. You have a disadvantage with COVID of probably not being able to join a gym and might not even have support meetings to attend. This is not an easy journey and it does help to have support from others who have been though it and understand what is going on.
