How much weight did you lose pre surgery?
I am reading that a lot of doctors will have you lose weight even before having surgery? why?
I have a tough time losing weight as it is, so if i could lose weight, why am I entertaining the idea surgery?
I guess I am just confused? HELP!
some surgeons do want you to lose some weight o make the surgery safer.
you will be put on a liquid died for about 10-24 days before your surgery date. Depending on how heavy you are to start with, you might lose from 5-50 pounds prepping. The more you weigh, typically the more you lost pre op. I lost 11 pounds pre op.
most of us can lose weight; we just can't keep it off long term. That is where surgery makes a difference.
my insurance company required a six-month supervised diet. Between that and the two-week liquid diet the surgeon required (to shrink my liver to make the surgery safer), I lost 57 lbs. Yes - I could have lost 57 lbs on my own - I'd done it before several times, but I could never keep it off for more than a few months, which is why I finally came to the conclusion that surgery was my best option.
I think some insurance companies require a supervised diet (either three or six months - usually the latter) just to see if you're able to stick to a program.

10lbs. .
No liquid only requirement here other than day before and day of surgery.

Hahha no, that would have been exciting though.
My program did not have a liquid diet requirement (except for the general no eating the day of and night before surgery that seems standard with an full anesthesia).
My surgeon?s requirement was that I lose 10lbs preop and I lost 10lbs.
