Have you talked to your medical team? Is it with all foods and liquids? Have you tried stepping back to an earlier stage food wise? I would say talking to your doctor is the best next step!

Are you eating too fast? Are you eating to much volume? Are you chewing your food adequately? Are you eating things you shouldn't, like sugar, bread, pasta, etc.? Those are the four that usually make me nauseous.

The other thing that made me sick was milk. I became lactose intolerant after surgery. My protein supplement had lactose in it that made me nauseous all the time. When I switched to a protein that was all whey isolate (and did not have any whey concentrate which has lactose in it), and started using almond or cashew milk, my nausea went away. I could still eat Greek yogurt and hard cheese. The process of making them "eats up" the lactose in the milk.

How bad is the nausea ? Are you barely holding yourself back from throwing up or is it more that you WISH to eat more bites ( because the food tastes good and is healthy and probably cost you a lot of time and money to fix? ) and your body's saying ... very loudly NO ?

The latter happens to me ALL the TIME. If I persist , I start sneezing ( which in the time of Covid- is NOT the thing to do socially lol)

So I've learned to STOP, take a ( long ) break from munching ( even in the middle of a party) and act like a " normal " person around food. Stopping stuffing and opening my eyes let me see that the majority of folks at a party leave half their food untouched ( the clean-up doggies are grateful ! )

I'm actually very appreciative of the nausea ( or lack of appetite ) .

As someone who was TOTALLY food-obsessed and recipe and cooking and baking oriented pre-op ( I basically paid a very high NYC rent with it and even to this day collect " eaters " like my just widowed next door neighbor who I deliver free lunches to ) not wanting to constantly taste comes as an amazing relief.

I actually can concentrate on my work and art and performance ( not have it in the back of my mind - can I eat ? ) Yeah I WAS that person- constantly grazing. Its only because I eat low fat low sugar and exercise intensively that I didn't out graze my amazing once-in-a lifetime surgery.

Have you told your surgeon and been tested for a stricture?

I don't know much about the Lap-Band but I would ask your doctor about the placement of the band and whether it could be too tight.

I threw up quite a bit post lap band and noting would stay down. I knew it wasn't supposed to be like that so a couple of years of dealing with it, I called my surgeon. my band had slipped so I ended up going for a revision to Bypass.

If something doesn'tt feel right, call your surgeon. Don't wait because it could be something bigger.
