What do you miss most after having weight loss surgery?

I plan ahead now too and have even started planning my meals out for the week which is a little challenging at times.

I am really working hard to be in the kitchen more and find healthier alternatives NOW before I have surgery. I am also really trying to focus on the good things that will come from a healthier lifestyle. I'm hoping to get the feeling of gratification in another way than stuffing my face with unhealthy stuff. I've never been an alcohol drinker since I don't like feeling "not in control".

You have the right attitude! Good luck with your surgery.

I don't really miss that much. There have been a few times in the last five years when I've been eating a piece of pizza or some southern BBQ (when I visit my brother in NC) that tasted so wonderful that I wish I could cram it in like I did in the old days, but I physically can't do that anymore. But then again, after the first slice of pizza or the first few bites of BBQ (or anything, really), the intense taste sensation fades and you're just eating to eat.

Good point!

My surgery was a disaster. I haven't felt like I have swallowed food since the liquid diet before surgery. Before surgery I was a size 12 and now I am a size 22 so I miss my clothes. I miss my foot. I lost 14 lbs. after surgery and then gained 60 lbs. I had a rny to "cure type 1 diabetes"...it doesn't. Since my rny and 60 lb. weight gain, I have had a heart attack and a part of my foot amputated.

Choose your surgeon carefully. He can wreck your life. Tri

Are you able to have a second opinion and potentially go in for a revision?

I am so very sorry to hear that your surgery didn't go well and that you are having a difficult time with your health and I am sorry about the loss of your foot. This all must have been and still is very hard on you. Wishing you better days ahead!

I guess part of me misses the "fly by the seat of my pants" type of lifestyle but really looking back I'm extremely happy as to my success thus far. It's sometimes gets frustrating with having to analyze every ingredient on a nutrition label. But I guess long term it really is a blessing because I know what is going in my body and how it will help me in the long run.

Congratulations on your weight loss success! I know what you mean by "fly by the seat of my pants"...that's exactly the feelings I was trying to convey.
