Off topic: Do you wear a mask when you go out in public?
Yes, I wear one around other people and inside stores. I want to be safe and I wouldn't want to spread anything to anyone else. Most of the people around here and people I know wear a mask. I would encourage everyone too. I did go to a party a few weeks back for a friend who has cancer and is starting treatment. I was of the understanding that it would be a 'safe' party....outside, everyone brings own chair and food and drink and wears mask if not eating or drinking and sitting at least 6 feet apart. I kept my face shield on, and had a mask and my own chair, etc. But the hostess did not intend for it to be safe, and everyone was sharing food and drinks. I didn't partake and left early. I was shocked, it would have been wonderful if this was a precovid time, but it was like I walked into a time machine and everyone was oblivious to the risks. Then I became upset, because almost everyone there is at risk....anyway I left early. The next day I explained why I left and my friends were all in agreement and very upset about what happened. I do understand the peer pressure. I think maybe WLS is one of the things that helped me stand up. Because you have to stand up for yourself when you do the surgery and then deal with people after you lose weight. This is not a political decision to wear a mask, it is a health decision and a choice to care for yourself and others. You are worth being safe, and so are your friends and family. And I actually think it could be worse to spread it to someone than to even get it myself, I would feel so bad if someone died or had complications. I do know besides peer pressure, sometimes we don't feel like we are worth the best care. We all are....please everyone be safe!
Yes, I wear a mask, any time I go out (Which is rare). No question about that. I do not feel that anyone has a hold over what I do. I am the one controlling my actions because I am an adult. I see others not wearing one and I just steer clear. I think its hilarious that people are getting upset over being asked to wear a mask when they are in a business establishment... yelling at the employees... I agree with the fact that if "you have the right" not to wear a mask then the business "has a right" not to serve you. Just like dress codes in fancier establishments, IMHO.
