You asked for inputs, and, of course, you will something different, from each individual, as we are all unique..You get what you are willing to put into your life/health...

I was 44, when I had open RNY, over 18 years ago. I am under "goal", but has certainly had many rollercoaster times, on the scale...

BUT...I have NO DOUBT...I would be dead, with out having lost the weight, etc...

A motto, that stuck with me, early on (I wish I knew who to credit to):

Work as hard to LIVE your surgery, as you did to GET your surgery

Every moment lived as a healthier person is worth it. I had surgery in October, and even if I only had 5 years to enjoy my new self, it would have been worth it. I would have still made the exact same choice.
