Salt Replacement Ideas??
Love my eggs but must have salt on them. Doctor says I need to cut back on the salt after looking at my blood work. Any ideas out there on what to use? Thinking of sea salt but there are so many kinds out there. Any suggestions or favorites? Is there a Mrs. Dash Salt out there? Thanks!!
Isn't Sea Salt a Salt? I'm pretty sure that's in the do not use pile. I use pepper and find I'm pretty satisfied.

Oh my,,,, I didn't know sea salt was just as bad! I thought it was a substitute to salt. Good to know! Thanks!!
I had high blood pressure prior to surgery and was told to cut the salt. I had a hard time but I was able to find ways to add salt naturally. For eggs, I always use onions and garlic in my egg white omelet. If I use salted butter, I do not add ANY additional salt. I also add salsa to my eggs since most contain a bit of salt and I am fairly content. I've used Mrs. Dash for seasoning meat but never added directly to a di****self. I would say if you can find a natural alternative to adding salt do that - but I do know that is somewhat hard to do.
Thank you for sharing..... your egg omelet sounds yummy! I will do this also. I need to drop the yolk and do only the whites since my cholesterol is high 240. Thanks again! :)
My blood pressure was normal. I have swelling going on in my legs. I think that is the reason on cutting back on salt. Also, my cholesterol was high around 240. This is from eating sweets and bad carbs I'm sure.... which has stopped. I am also drinking around 80 oz of water now. The doctor told me the numbers , did not get a print out. Hope this helps. :)
Might I suggest you call the doctor's office and ask for a copy of your results? Mine are all posted on my account online and there is a graph where all results are compared for years. It enables me, and my doctor to monitor progress and/or declines in my health from year to year. I am able to tweak my supplementation according to the results and I credit this with my good health for the past 15.5 years

I agree with Kim. You should ask for copies of all of your bloodwork so that you can compare numbers over time. Also I believe high cholesterol is due to saturated fats more than carbs so watch your fat intake, including dairy.
Did your doctor recommend medication to try to lower your cholesterol?
