How to Calculate Weigh****chers Points
If you are wondering how Weigh****chers comes up with its points, this is how they started. Now they have another "secret" factor which is how likely is a person to overeat the food or under report it. I personally just count 50 calories as a point when I estimate.
- First, find out the calories in the food serving.
- Divide the calorie amount by 50. For example, if the consumed amount of calories is 400, divide this by 50 to get 8.
- Then determine the amount fat consumed.
- Divide the amount of fat by 12. As an example, if you have consumed 24 grams of fat, divide this by 12 and you will get 2.
- Then determine the amount of dietary fiber.
- If the amount is less than 4 grams, you have to divide the amount by 5. As an example, if you have consumed 2 grams of fiber, the point will be 0.40.
- If the consumed amount is more than 4 grams, you have to use 0.80 points in your calculator.
- Now you can calculate the amount of ProPoints. Add together the points from the calories and the fat. Using the example above, I would have 8 points from the calories and 2 from the fat, making 10 points.
- Then subtract the points total from the fiber. If the food had more than 4 grams of fiber, I would deduct 0.80 from my total, making 9.20 points overall.

I was assigned blue but switched to purple... what have you noticed to be the biggest differences between those 2 colors? Is there one that you think is better for bariatric consumers? I am glad you like Green better. =)
I am also on Green!! So far I have lost 11 pounds in 6 weeks. 19 more to go. I am losing at a snail's pace now, but I know I will get back to my goal weight by August (hopefully much sooner but I need to fit back in my work clothes by August).

That's an awful lot of math. I suppose I can get my calculator out and do all the gazintas while I'm eating my cake.

I use the WW online app and choose something similar if the item I am eating isn't there. For shopping, the barcode scanner works well. For things I make regularly, I create the recipe and save it for reuse in the app. I used to estimate 50 calories per point on the older plans, but with all the free foods I find that it is not as accurate for me.
I am blue and WW is working well for me so I'm not changing. I lost 8 pounds under WW in 7 weeks whi*****luded Christmas, New Years, and DH's death. I should be back to lifetime range next week, and I have 4.6 pounds to get back to my WLS goal.
