Liver shrinking diet?

My surgeon gave me a weight loss goal during my pre op period (to shrink the liver) 10 week behavior class was the hospital requirement - my insurance required 6 months with monthly check ins so I alternated the RD, bariateic nurse, psych, etc. I was lucky that they had a great RD and psych team which helped me To make behavior changes (although I was so happy to get rid of the paper meal and emotion logs and switch to just a tracking app!) lose the required weight and i only had one pre op day of liquids (I counted myself very lucky)!

There are so many different approaches, sounds like yours is one you can do (and when it gets hard, just remind yourself that some people have had lengthy liquid only requirements...that helped me!)

I read sooooo much about this topic because it scared the crap out of me. I had never stayed super low cal and low carb for two weeks in my life, but I did it and so can you.

It varies tremendously between surgeons. My doctor used HMR products which were expensive and mostly sucked if prepared as directed. One product was a chicken soup packet and I learned to make a savory crepe out of the soup and egg whites and some bacos. It was totally compliant and a few days in, it tasted like a gourmet meal. I couldn't deal with the sweet protein shakes, but I also learned to make things with those. One was a chocolate waffle.

I will tell you that it is hard, but it is temporary and looking back now, it seems like the two weeks flew by. When I felt like eating something delicious, I whipped myself back in shape by thinking about potential complications from eating fat or sugar.

good luck!
