Insurance Approved!
I just got the call from my insurance company that I have been approved for my RNY surgery!! So ecstatic right now!! It took about a month for my doctor's office to submit everything and receive my approval for anyone out there still waiting. I tried to keep it at the back of my mind and not get my hopes up just in case, so I am just over the moon right now.
Now to wait for a call from my surgeon's office, can't wait to join the loser's bench!
I had my first consultation with my surgeon in August. My insurance required a 6 month supervised diet which required me to be seen by a medical professional at least once a month. I discussed it with my PCP in July so they counted that. I finished all my requirements the first week of December, but because of the holidays my stuff didn't get submitted to insurance until everyone came back from vacation. I went to monthly nutritional workshops and logged all my food. My surgeon did not require me to lose any weight, they just focused on us getting enough protein, 2 fruits, 2 veggies, fluids etc. It only mattered to them if I lost too much and went under a 35 BMI. I will have to do a 10 day liquid "liver shrinking" diet, which I'm sure will cause me to lose weight. But there is no requirement for how much I must lose prior to surgery. Hope that helps!
