cystic acne!
hey, folks! it's been a long time since we've chatted.
i am 6 months post-op and have found that my acne seems to be ragging even more. i know this is part of the process and that this is one way that my hormones are getting rid of the built up toxins stored in my fat cells, BUT ... the cystic acne that i am dealing with is very annoying. it's no fun looking at your face and seeing pumps and lumps almost everywhere on your face.
if you suffered with acne after surgery, what did you do to combat it?
Did you try a search here? i found this https://www.obesityhelp.com/search/forums/?q=Cystic+acne&ali as=rny&order_by=post_date
Good luck!!

Your body is not getting rid of "toxins." The acne could be caused by estrogen, which is a hormone and not anything "toxic," because it's stored in your fat cells and is released into the body with rapid weight loss.

I'm about 7 months post-op and have been suffering with cold sores. No acne for me but I certainly do feel your pain. Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it and find a cure.
I typically will get cold sores once or twice a year but have had five in the past three months alone. My Dr. prescribes Zovirax cream to treat the symptoms however after reading your post I'm wondering if this is also triggered as a result of surgery?

It's possible that there's a connection. Some people experience a weakened immune system after WLS.

I have not had my surgery yet but I can relate to the acne. I never had a pimple in my teens! Now in my 30's and its hard core! everywhere! I even get them on my upper arms. I have been focusing on my face big time to clear it up and here is what has helped me. I am 100% clear from cystic acne. I got a custom blend of retinol cream from the spa and its been amazing! I have worked up to using it everyday. I started micro needling my face with a medical grade unit. Finally I am getting an IPL laser treatment tomorrow. Its amazing the changes I have made.
