Buying new clothes - happy, sad frustrated

OK so is anyone else having issues with buying new clothes while still losing weight? I've struggled with this for a number of reasons. The first and foremost being that I have gotten so used to my old body that the idea that I no longer fit the clothes from that time still messes with my head. It's weird but it felt kind of like a safety net. I knew how to dress that body and the rules were clear: cover your rolls and conceal as much as possible. Now though, the rules as well as the size has changed and I don't know what to do. The old clothes don't fit. The pants fall off and if I wear a belt they balloon out and the blouses that once covered my fuller stomach now look like dresses. (a lot of people have complimented me on my new dresses though:) I've taken steps to throw out most of my old clothes but now I'm left buying new things. Since I am still losing I don't want to buy a whole new wardrobe only to outgrow it in a couple more months. Any suggestions? I just bought a couple of new pairs of pants the other day but when I tried them on they are actually too big which is weird since I was sure they would maybe even be a little bit tight around the middle for a bit.

i do understand. i went from a size 30 to a size 18 in 10 months. went on line to woman within-full beauty and their clearance section, their sales, prices change like every few days. i was able to get a few items for very cheap like leggings, shirts for $2.00 and $3.00. but i didn't buy alot of clothes because i knew i would be going down in another size in a month or 2. i liked to get knit pants in smaller sizes and stayed away from the cotton stuff. i also got clothes at places that i could take them back if they didn't fit. get things on clearance, never pay full price, that is what i did. the shirts that i used to wear that were too big i wear as nighties now. i gave bags and bags of my old clothes away to people that i knew could use them. good luck

Honestly, I shopped Goodwill, consignment and Walmart during my weightloss. Wearing clothes that fit will get you used to your new body much quicker than wearing stuff that's way too big.

Don't drop too much money in the losing phase because you will drop sizes quicker the smaller you get

Seven years ago when I was actively losing all the clerks at nearby Goodwills knew my name. I went from a tight size 28 to a size 0 or 1 in about 91/2 months. I still have a hard Tim's realizing what size I am.

I have only bought a couple new items here and there. For the most part I have just been wearing clothes I had before surgery. I did have to buy some new exercise pants though because it gets old having to constantly pull up your pants when you're trying to exercise. As for my pants I wear to work, my mom just takes the waist in for me when they get too big. I found a shirt in my closet yesterday that I wore to work. When I put it on I didn't recognize it and then I remembered it was a top that always fit kind of snug. Yesterday it was almost down to my knees because it was so loose. It still blows my mind.

But yes, this phase can be frustrating as your current clothes are too big, but yet you don't want to spend money on new clothes you may only be able to wear for a short time. I think shopping at a thrift store and Walmart are great ideas. That way you can find clothes that fit, but don't have to worry about spending so much money on things you probably won't wear for long.

Goodwill (et al) here as well. I was blowing through sizes too quickly to buy anything new (well, other than underwear...)

I found that I could skip sizes too. Once you hit goal be careful, I slipped right passed my lowest goal by another 25lbs, which was 3 sizes! Now that I've been steady I've bought a lot of clothes!!
