If you plan taking proferin - break the pill in half, then take it. It should help to dissolve it better.

I take 3 of the Proferrin Heme Iron. I buy it online. Its spendy but worth it.

I'm one year post op bypass and all of my labs (ferritin, TICB, iron saturation, and iron) were all one point from being abnormal or they were abnormal. My ferritin level is 16. None of my doctors were concerned about it. I don't have labs for another year so I'm going to a hemotologist.

Glad you are going to a hematologist.

My doctor prescribes iron infusions when my ferritin gets below 50. You have to be on top of your numbers. Doctors don't look beyond the chart in front of them. If you are within "normal" they let it slide, without considering your trends. I keep a spread sheet so I know when to up my dosage of certain supplements.
