I can relate to this...I do wish I didn't have to go to the extreme of surgery to lose weight. But I truly think my diabetes had gotten so out of control that it made losing weight incredibly hard.

Since I had my surgery I can truly say I wish I knew more in what I was getting in to. I only lost 90lbs since my surgery on March 22, 2017, and been stall for over a year and a half. My weight lost went from 330lbs before surgery and now I at 238lbs as of today. I have tried everything to get my weight down but it just want move. I continue to gain water weight and had to start taking Furosemide. My Arthritis has gotten worst as well as I had to have knee surgery and shoulder cuff surgery. Two months after my weight loss surgery I had to have another surgery because my hernia came open and broke my digestive system and I couldn't keep anything down. I go back to see my weight loss sergeant on August 8, 2019. I can tell you what he will say, but I will let you know.

I had the DS weight loss surgery on March 22, 2017, and I wish I went with the sleeve instead.

Duodenal switch. I combines a sleeved stomach with intestinal bypass. It's a more complicated surgery, has much more vitamin absorption issues, and major problems with gas and diarrhea. Very few doctors do th e DS these days.

I've only lost about 95 lbs myself. Had the surgery almost 5 years ago and no matter what I do I cannot get under, or at least stay under 250 lbs. It appears to be my set weight. Probably should have went with the Bypass over the Sleeve. But I'm healthy and pretty active other than when my arthritis acts up (cannot bend knee in bed at night) If I could lose 20 more pounds I think I would be completely content.

Yes I am thinking of having the bypass only because I have GERD now and I heard (on this forum) of people saying how badly they suffer from it after having VSG. So I'm going to talk to surgeon about it.
