Wow some doctors ..jeez! They can be unfairly judgemental. And I think that's the best thing to find support here and stick with that. It's been helpful for me ? also I'm thinking of attending a WLS bariatric group at the weight loss center i attend. I think talking to people who are going through same thing as me would be so beneficial.

I told almost no one of my decision before I had the surgery. People are exceptionally judgmental of MO people on the best of days, and I didn't want to deal with all that. Now that I have lost the weight, I'll tell them about it if I feel as though they could benefit from the surgery, otherwise I'll just ramble off the post op diet lol

If it's any consolation, people get a lot less judgey once you're normal sized and you should be able to talk about the surgery much more openly.

Best of luck!

There's not many people in my life to tell. But the ones I did tell were pretty excited for me. My older Brother was a little nervous for me. He made the comments like "aren't you afraid you can die". I think it's normal for someone who cares about you about to react that way though. I also think He was more or less sad that we wouldn't be able to share eating in common anymore. My younger Brother also had the surgery 3 months after me and I was afraid he would die as well. Coincidentally i had no fear of dying myself. I figured if i died during surgery I wouldn't know I did. My sister in law was really happy for me when I told her at Christmas, two months before surgery. She then saw me a month and a half after surgery and was beyond excited to see how much i had lost and was asking tons of questions(considering it herself).

I also tell medical professionals I see. The best is when I come in for an appointment and I am like 50lbs down since the last time they saw me and they are in just shock.
