a dose of reality
You also have to keep in mind people who have unusual cir****tances that may prevent them from having WLS. I have one friend who is around 500 pounds but has cancer and needs to go into remission and loose some weight before her doctor will preform surgery. She struggles (obviously) and I think it'll take her some time before she'll get close to where she needs to be.
Another friend of mine has insurance that excludes WLS and cannot raise the money to pay out of pocket.
Additionally, I have a few friends who are just under the cut off limit, they need to lose maybe 80 pounds, not 100. They wouldn't get approved for surgery.
Everyone has a different story and has made their decisions for different reasons and a lot of time it has nothing to do with them not wanting to give up their big macs.

I know people IRL who had the same surgery as I did, by the same doc that did my RNY.
And some, like me, maintain over the years with some fluctuations here and there, but others gained a lot, if not all of it back. They tolerate car s and sugars, and like and eat a lot of that. They like "baking cakes and cookies" for "family"...
You are still in a honeymoon time. Wait 5 years... Then decide...W the newness of the process is well behind you, when life throws you a challenge or 2, when you really care tired of constantly reminding yourself about the WLS menu. Going on vacation, like cruise, knowing that you are going to watch people eating a lot and drinking..
