Bad breath/taste 1 year post op?
Hey guys
So I'm one year out and doing great. Lost a total of 80 lbs. All.is great except for this nasty taste in my mouth. My husband and kids comment about how bad my breath is. I am not in ketosis because I am at goal and just trying to maintain. I eat fruit and other stuff with sugar. My dental hygiene is great and even went to my dentist and he said my teeth and gums are fine. I know what keto breath is since I've experienced it in the past and this is different. My tongue has a white coating as well. Took a round of anti fungal thinking it was thrush and no luck. I've never had problems with my breath until now?
Any ideas? I also sometimes spit up this nasty tasting/frothy phlegm.
Have you asked your surgeon about this?

You may need a great gastro or bariatric type doctor.
You may have SIBO, or h-pylori, or other bacterial infection.

That makes sense. With the stomach not able to have enough hydrochloric acid infection can be an issue along with incomplete digestion. If it were a peptic ulcer she could probably have pain but nerves could be cut. Stomach cancer is also a possibility. If the infections eats through the stomach then sepsis would happen an sepsis is deadly.
H-pylori can be cured with cabbage juice and bismuth or bismuth and antibiotics. She needs to be scoped ASAP so they can see what's going on. Sounds serious.

IMO you need to be scoped ASAP. Get to a gastroenterologist pronto!
I actually had a problem similar to this and it turned out to be my tonsils. I developed tonsil stones and they can really make your breath horrible. I eventually had my tonsils removed this past January.
I get the white tongue as well but I always attributed it to me being a diabetic. I bought a metal tongue scraper years ago that does the trick.

As others mentioned also about tonsil stones..It could be those. They stink like straight ass. I used to get those alot as well before i started scraping my tongue every morning when I wake up though.
Edited to say before I started using this tongue scraper I had horrible breath that my family told me..No mouth wash worked. Not even listerine. After i started using this I never get any comments about my breath anymore and I don't even use mouthwash or listerine any longer.
