Did your pet reflect you size?
As much as I want to say yes I have one horse who is trim and fit (without being exercised) and one who just by breathing is a tank and overweight. But I have to remember that Saddlebreds and Gypsy Cobs are two totally different breeds. The Cob would be fat even if she ate tree bark.
I always knew that obesity in animals is worse than them being to thin. Of course I didn't put that knowledge to me or I wouldn't of had to have WLS.
This is Scarlett you can see she is not an overly large horse.
This is April when she was at the trainers for 6 months. She was trim and fit.
And her after no exercise for 6 months. Yup a chunky butt.
Interesting question. :)
The only dog I ever had as an adult was an Irish Wolfhound. She weighed 165 pounds. Sadly, she is gone now (she died four months after my WLS, which was almost five years ago).
We chose to have an IW because she was my husband's boyhood dream doggy. I was pretty big then, I think in the 190s at that point (I got bigger after that).
Looking back, I'm not sure that, as much as I loved her and as much as I love that breed, I'd have had the guts to acquire and train her if I had then weighed only 135 pounds like I have for the last 3.5 years.
In fact, I think I'll go find an IW just to hang out with a while and see what it feels like to handle one. :)
