Anyone have the robotic WLS?

I have heard/read it's quicker, less recover time. Did you have it done robotically? If so, let us know your experience.

We did an article back in 11/2015. Would be interesting to see this has evolved?

Glad you posted this. I will be seeing my surgeon again soon, and you've reminded me that I wanted to ask him if he used a robot for my VSG. I hope so; that would be so cool.

I'm sure this doesn't reall help your question or poll since my WLS was not done robotically but i did have a laparoscopic hysteroscopy a few years ago for endometriosis that was robotic and it was seriously the easiest recovery and least painful surgery I've ever had.
I've had a few abdominal ones...I really wish my surgeon could've done my RNY robotically! I bet it would've been a piece of cake as far as surgical pain/recovery and minimal gas.

Hi artchikk,

Thank you for sharing.... I was just asking as I have heard it's easier and less pain.

Mine was a regular lap surgery. My surgeon had access to the robot, but insists that it does nothing to help a surgeon who knows what they are doing.

There is pressure to use the robots, since hospitals spend a lot of money for them. But having a surgeon who knows WLS forwards and backwards is a better goal than having one that needs the assist.

There may be other surgeries that could use help from the robot. But WLS is not one of them.

I think they were just hitting the operating rooms at the time you had surgery. Now that it's been several years later I was interested in hearing from those that had it done via robotics.

I'm not quite I understand why robotics is such a big deal. The surgeon still controls this instruments. I had plain old laparoscopic surgery with a good surgeon. RNY with hiatal hernia repair and my recovery was a piece of cake.

That is why I asked the question. I have seen people that had it done said it was less pain, less recovery time. I was curious to see if anyone had it and what their experience was?
