Oh those were the days To go from eating thousands of calories a day to this? We thought we would die but we didn't and more over WE DID IT! What food items got you through? Join me in strolling down memory lane and help those that are just starting out. If you are in the liquid phase share with us what your surgeon's office recommended

SF popcycles

LS broth

I would use liquid protein as cream for my tea

Double protein milk

SF jello

SF flavored water

It depends on your surgeon but I have seen it required both pre-op and post op. Do you have a surgeon yet?

I got so tired of sweet things! Broth was OK, but it didn't exactly stick to my ribs. Fortunately, I was allowed porridge (oatmeal) from day 3. I had that without any sweetener, and it tasted savoury and was also filling. Of course, if I were to have porridge with no sweetener now, it would just taste bland!

My pharmacy, of all places, sells pureed fruit with nothing added. It comes in tiny containers which were the perfect size immediately post surgery. I think they are intended as gourmet baby food or to spread on toast, but I lived on them! (They only had the flesh of the fruit, no bits of of skin which can be problematic immediately after surgery.)

I didn't know it at the time, but protein powder also makes things creamy. If you're allowed coffee or tea, add protein powder for a rich creamy version.

That is a great suggestion. I also used cottage cheese with power protein blended with a little artificial sweetener and cinnamon. Yum....

I am 4 days post op (band to VSG) and allowed full liquids.

i made a shake with Premier Protein chocolate, PP caramel and about an ounce of cold decaf coffee.

pretty yummy as a cold drink ... will try the second half warmed up as a latte

Being able to eat SF jello with a spoon; just the action of bringing spoon to mouth helped me feel like I wasn't being deprived of "solid" food that could be eaten...even though jello is technically a liquid.

Does that make any sense? My brain isn't firing on all cylinders today. ( but does it ever? )

I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
