Compression garments/shapewear thoughts?
AMY - don't judge..lol...but my very favorite piece is one I bought, for $5, at a resale shop. It's a plain Jane, Cupid brand (they sell them at WalMart). I wear it, and other like it, most every day, just for the comfort. It's just a one piece, bra included, snap at the crotch, breathable cotton thing.
If I'm REALLY wanting to pull stuff in, I have some "Flexee" brand (bought at Target), that go to mid calf. I can't do things that only go to the thighs, because my things have too much skin, and the elastic will bind up (REAL sex-y !!!)

We Can Do Hard Things
No judging here. Cheap is good and its' why I asked the question. I know in my head that more expensive ones probably aren't any better than those in the Walmart/Target range. There is just so much of this stuff though!
The surgeon's nurse says she wears Spanx every day, just to help with the jiggle. I'm not at all excited about that idea - the spanx I'm looking at are 72$ a pair. And to buy five or six pair so I could wear them every day is not on my bucket list.
Thanks Gina. =)
I love my Wal Mart cupid shapewear, too!!
I can't do mid-thigh, either. I have to do capri length.

Yay! Links!
Thanks Gwen I will check them out. When you say "were" does that mean you don't wear them regularly anymore?
So confused over here right now. Someone told me that wearing them every day would help prevent hernias but I don't see how. I doubt my intestines will notice my undies. What do you thing about wearing them for prevention purposes?
I've only worn compression garments to aid in recovery after surgery, for recovery during/after runs (and then it's leg compression), or to contain excess skin prior to reconstructive surgery. I haven't worn abdominal compression for over a year at this point.
I've not seen any research that would lead me to believe compression garments would prevent hernias, nor have I heard this from any of my medical professionals.

Thanks Gwen. I was a bit skeptical but I'm new to all of this. I tried them when I was a good 80 pounds bigger than I am now and nothing seemed to work or fit right. They were all too small but I kept them and that's what I'm wearing now. They're now too big though and I'm not sure how much good they're doing.
Some of this oddball stuff related to WLS plus health challenges is just a flat out exercise in frustration.
Flexees are my favorite brand too. I only like the camisole type ones, or the tube type top that helps hold in muffin top. I do not wear shape wear 98% of the time though. A few pieces I own I feel I absolutely need shapwear with.
