surgery side-effects or something worse?

I'm in a bad place right now... After this surgery, I'm having some major difficulties... Let me explain - I've struggled with my weight throughout my whole life... Diets didn't help, working out didn't help... That's why I mustered up enough courage to undergo a surgery.... So, now I'm having sexual difficulties, let's put it this way... I've never experienced anything like this before, so I'm hoping it's temporary? Please share your experience with me if you had something similar happen to you?

That's extremely vague. It would help to know if you were a male or female too. Type and dAte of surgery??

No I have not heard of sexual issues as a side effect of surgery. But after surgery hormones are out of whack for a bit. and we're you on medications before- did you stop them, or change doses. That could influence sexual ability.

Best thing to do is talk to your doctor and get a full lab work up to see if anything in your bloodwork can explain anything.

Or could be a female fan of James Bond novels!

There's not 100% correlation from user names to actual names.

As Peachpie said more information would be helpful.

If you are recently out from surgery as in maybe 6 months or less it could be from hormone changes and just a general your body saying- what is going on here?

See your doctor though if you are worried.

Hormonal dumps are common months after surgery. In women, it can be dryness or loss of drive (or increase). Effects are all over the place, really. For men, not being one, I can't talk from experience, but it only makes sense that men be a hot mess for a while too.

As Valerie mentioned, there are hormonal issues post-operatively. Fat tissue stores a hormone called estrogen, as well as xenoestrogens which are substances that mimic the shape of estrogen. You get flooded with this during rapid weight loss, as the fat cells burn and release their stores and what they were holding. That's a gross over-simplification, though.

At any rate, it causes a lot of issues. It could be that? There's also significant psychological and physiological stress after surgery, especially weight loss surgery, and that's known to kill sex drive for men and women both. Our mindsets change as we lose weight too, which changes our perspectives on relationships we've been in. I'm actually surprised this doesn't get discussed more in general by doctors or psychologists.

It's hard to tell on the internet what it might be. Probably a good idea to check in with the doctor's office or your PCP to rule out other stuff just in case.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
