AMAW today - join in
I ate off plan yesterday so am jumping into an AMAW today. For those who are new to OH, AMAW stands for "All Meat All Week" and can be a great way to reset back to healthy eating. Some people include dairy and/or eggs as well, which we sometimes call CAMAW (Critter and Meat All Week). I plan to eat only eggs, meat, and fat. Would anyone like to join me?

Day 2 went well. I ate chicken salad, egg salad, and meat sticks. I'm feeling bottomless again on day 3 and am mostly eating eggs. I've been energetic and warm and that feels amazing after months of restricting food for weight loss. I'd still love company if anyone wants to join.

To feel full, you need to be eating DENSE protein. Try switching from eggs to something like whole chicken breast or lean cuts of beef and pork. You will probably feel much more satisfied!

Day 3 involved eating a lot of food and I'm up 2 lbs today which is unacceptable. I've been feeling amazingly warm and energetic feeding my body lots of meat and fat, but today I'm going to cut back and incorporate intermittent fasting back in. I want to keep feeling energetic but it's not worth weight gain!

Perhaps you are trying to maintain your weight at a point that's too low? Have you had a DEXA scan to see what your body fat is?

I haven't had a DEXA, although I'd love to get one at some point. I can easily see and pinch excess fat on my thighs and abdomen and apparently I can lose 10-13lbs and still be a normal BMI, but I'm not interested in getting that low. I really just want to maintain at 118-122 and this morning I was 124. I wish maintenance wasn't such a huge pain in the behind.

BMI is a flawed metric for weight and what you can "see and pinch" might not necessarily be "excess fat," it might be skin. The scale can't tell you how much your muscle and bone weigh. With how much you struggle to maintain the weight you want, it would be wise to get a body scan to ensure the weight you want is actually healthy in terms of body composition.

I would suggest getting a body fat test. One of the electrical impedence machines can get you a rough ballpark; it won't be as accurate as a DEXA scan, but it can at least give you an idea of where you're at.
