This new weight loss surgery will make you say WTF?

I searched OH and found 2016, and 12/2018 posts on this 'device'

I am totally revulsed, as most are. Anyone with WLS experience (or an RN/LVN) would have a much stronger reaction from any 'tube and body fluids' handling, but to a person new to 'options' like the Oberon Balloon (Aspire is made by the same company) it might sound logical. Having a balloon blown up in your tummy for 6 months for 'easy' loss is the same 'mechanical tool' solution..but read any of the FB "balloon" pages on how a human body copes with meals with that thing inside them day and night! (there are women who got so excited at the 'easy loss of 15-20 lbs' they actually gorged on favorite foods and gained weight BEFORE the $7,000 placement, and then only 'lost' 5 lbs.... the mind can really F* us up with bad logic.)

Here are both OH link pages, a few replies are posted to ea*****luding mine from 2018. I am beyond grossed out, and in thinking this thru like a "mechanic' on how it actually operates when you need o use it, well, I can see why anyone 'queasy/sensitive' to sights- a grey pink specked runny mass, or smells- acidic? putrid? like an unclean fridge?, garbage can? or sounds- the plopping into the toilet bowl of stomach contents..for several minutes...yea, I could puke thinking of dealing with that 2-4 times a day!

I would rather 'WL research' did more to manage the brain's response to hormone signals; or some method of 'halting' smell & taste temporarily so you can eat a bland food, be satisfied, and not get stimulated to want more.

We deal with at least 4 major hormones around food consumption; and many hormones unknown yet, or how they interact with the brain, they are: insulin, and dopamine, plus leptin, ghrelin, the last two only discovered in the mid 1990s!

Anyone recall the magic 'Leptin' pill ads? "It's not your fault!" the blond spokesmodel said..take this pill and you will be satisfied very fast, and stop eating. Well leptin pills work with MICE and only mice, there are too many complexities with humans, and the company that quickly bought and controlled all the research? Total loss in the millions $$. You don't see those ads anymore.

I'm reading more on neuroscience, and the WHY of what I want to eat, and how to change that. The book The Hungry Brain is fascinating!

I completely agree that sounds like a bullemia assistance tool - without the uncomfortable vomiting and tooth decay. Oh joy!
