It's great that there are some example policies here, but we have NO idea how many employers elect to provide this level of coverage; I suspect it's not the majority.

As always, people should contact the customer service center for specific details about their particular insurance plan/situation.

This is a pretty irresponsibly useless article, Kathy. The only way to answer this question, as Julie states, is to contact your own insurance company and ask about your own policy.

This article gets one's hopes up when very very very few people will be able to get plastic surgery paid for by insurance.

Hi,

In my own WLS journey, I have BC/BS of Michigan/Medicare. I've had Hidrinitus Suppurativa for 40 years and because of that lovely lil skin problem, I was able to get reconstruction of my arms, breasts and legs.

I didn't think I'd ever look "Normal" after my WLS, my plastic surgeon said it's all in how he "Worded" it in his request for approval.

He also said that if you have sores, smell and or back pain from the excessive pulling if skin from the weight "Droppage" the insurance company are more than likely to approve it.

Hey also told me I could even have a thigh lift when I was ready for it too. But I'm happy w/my body now and don't feel the need for "One more surgery". I'm 60 now and I don't think I need it just to wear short shorts.

It took me a long time and a lot of hard work to get the body I'm in now. Bottom line is that I'm HAPPY, that I took those steps to get healthy!

I'm at goal? too!!
