Cauliflower

I am 10 months post-op. I have had Cauliflower a few times with no issues. The past few days we have made cauliflower mash potato's and cauliflower rice and both of them I haven't been able to tolerate. I have never dumped off any type of food before but hubby has and he says it's not dumping. Does it make sense that so far after my surgery I start having issues with certain foods?

My question would be how did you prepare the cauliflower mash and rice. Did you add something new? How was it prepared before when you ate it with no issues? All that could make a difference. I can't speak to the dumping specifically because I had VSG, but from what I understand about dumping, it's caused by consuming excess sugar.

Ditto, to what CATHY said - how was the cauliflower prepared?

As for your husband, HIS dumping has NOTHING to do with YOUR dumping

As for "food experiences", it's never too late, for "intolerances"...unfortunately...I am over 16 years out, and still find things that just don't "sit well", with Oscar (my Grouch Pouch)...it's a never ending adventure!!

I do, however, doubt you "dumped", on cauliflower. Most likely it as a temporary intolerance

Yes, something must have been different. Try and write down all that goes in your mouth and you will have that moment where you go. THAT IS IT! Congratulations on your 10 months

It could also be "how" you're eating and not necessarily the food itself. If you're eating too fast, or not paying attention, that could also affect dumping.

For me, cauliflower has to be well cooked or it really irritates. It's definitely not dumping material though

I have always had an intolerance to broccoli if it is not cooked completely. Cauliflower never gave me an issue. Last night I eventually (TMI moment) farted, and the pain went away. That was all I felt really bad pain when i tried to stand up. Both days I didn't eat anything new. I had hard boiled eggs for breakfast, for lunch a small salad, and dinner was a small piece (2oz) of homemade hamburger and cauliflower made as rice the first day and mashed the second day.
