Hello everyone , my name is Shaun I'm 33 years old, and have a weight of 298 pounds. I currently live in China and worked here for the past 8 years. My weight has really come on fast in the last 6 years. The doctors have suggested I have the operation before I have a stroke or get diabetes. I'm looking for help, support, and friends while I take this new adventure.

Hi Shaun!

Welcome to the Forum!

You will find a lot of helpful and supportive people on this forum. The people are from all stages of their WLS journeys--from pre-op to just having had surgery--all the way to people who are 10 or more years after surgery! Each person has a slightly different perspective. All have great recommendations!

So, ask away! The more specific your questions are, the easier it is for posters to respond to you so that you get the information and support that you need!

Hi Shaun,

Welcome to OH

Congratulations on taking control of your life and your weight loss journey. We suggest you research all your options for WLS and OH is the right place for that. Once you have reviewed your options surgery wise and decided on one then your next step is to find a surgeon. We can help you with that. Here are some links that will be helpful in your research.

If you have not done so you need to contact your insurance company and verify if they cover WLS and if so what procedures. If you have Medicaid and or Medicare, contact them to verify if they cover WLS, if so, what procedures and if there are any pre-op qualifications you have to meet. We can help with this.

I will be sending you this via email also. Let us know if you need anything else.

Regards,

Kathy

Welcome! Glad you are here. Ask all the questions you have when they come up - you'll find there is a lot of information here and people are glad to share it.

If you're planning on sticking around you may want to add an avatar. It makes it easier to identify your posts and also shows some of the skeptics that you are a real person, lol.

Will you be having surgery in China?
