Inspire me! What is something you never imagined you could do and now you can!

Last summer, I rode my bike in RAGBRAI and did 150 miles in 3 days. Before surgery, I could ride maybe a mile or two before I was exhausted and ready to pass out. But for this ride, my biggest problem was my butt getting sore in the saddle after putting so many miles in!

Oh gosh yes, I wouldn't dream of riding without padded shorts. Imagine a maxi pad in your shorts, but filled with the squishy goo that they make keyboard wrist-rests out of! I also have a fancy bike seat with an "anatomical cutout" to relieve pressure on my lady-bits. But by the end of the first day, my entire nether regions were numb :-D

There are all sorts of fancy bike seats! If you want something wide, I would look for a "cruiser" seat; these are wider, and built for riding in a more upright position. I would suggest something like this one-- springs for shock absorption, and memory foam so you can wear your regular shorts with them!
It's super easy to replace a seat, you just need an allen wrench :)

We rode cruisers in Amsterdam, which were pretty fun. I am tempted to get us and the kids bikes here but it's a pretty big investment to buy five bikes...so I dunno. I keep looking on our neighborhood NextDoor app, praying that some family is moving to a new country and wants to get rid of five bikes for next to nothing :)

Have you looked into a bike co-op? They're nonprofits that help people fix up bikes, and they very often have refurbished ones available for sale. At the one here in Tucson, you can get a new-to-you bike in great working condition for less than what you would pay at Walmart!
You can also check Craigslist, or police auctions. We have TONS of bikes for sale at auction here, since they get recovered from theft rings, so it's not too hard to find something.

1. Wrapping the hotel room towel around myself will NEVER get old!!
2. Putting on my airplane seatbelt and having belt left...also in some seats actually having seat visible on either side of me!
3. Fitting into non stretchy calf boots (some, not all)
4. Climbed to the top of St. Peter's Basilica, after being told the elevator was broken. I would have turned around before, I know it.
5. Aerial aerobics - I had seen this years ago but was way over the weight limit but really wanted to try it...and now I have!
6. Planned a zip lining bachelorette adventure for a friends party....and then DID the zip line (not sure I will ever do one again, but it's not because of the weight limit)
Next up....sky diving with my nephew...when I get to maintenance.

Ok, well I have never done aerial aerobics but I can TOTALLY relate to the others! I remember when I could first use one of the free towels at the gym without there being like a foot of space where it wouldn't touch, and I almost cried. I used to practically need an anti-anxiety pill if I had to book a flight last minute and got a middle seat. Now, middle seat...aisle...window...whatevs.
Sadly, I still struggle with knee high boots. My calfs are not petite by any means. But I have one pair and I faithfully wear them even though I feel like my fat knees spill over. Hey, I'm a work in progress!
I will never skydive. I am not an extreme sports person though I take lots of other "risks" supposedly (I mean, I didn't think it was dangerous to pick up hitchhikers in Syria but everyone else apparently did, after the fact). I think that's an awesome goal for maintenance!!!
