Back issues

Wednesday my back went bezerk. I had to use a walker just to get from room to room. Most of my left leg is totally numb but hurts like heck. I went to the doctor this morning and if it's not better in ten days I have to go back. I started a muscle relaxer and have a few heating pads to use.
i've always had issues with my sciatic nerve but this pain is unreal and unlike anything i've ever experienced. I've had more than a few panic attacks and i'm freaking out a little. If it's not better I have to get a lot of tests done and she mentioned surgery.
Has anyone else had back issues? I'm a bit over 7 months post op VSG.
Thanks!

My husband suffered from sciatica issues for 3 years straight. He tried muscle relaxers, pain medication, chiropractic, etc. Nothing worked for his pain. Then a friend recommended this book. It's a short book that can be read in a few hours.
He started doing the exercises in the book. It was very difficult in the beginning and he could barely do them. He was persistent and gradually the pain went away. He still does his exercises every night and has not had a sciatic episode in years.
Hope you find relief. Sciatic pain sucks.
Rushing to surgery is never the best idea and I always side eye any doctor who suggests it - especially prior to any sort of testing! Did you see an orthopedist? Or a spine specialist? That's probably your next best step. That doctor should order an MRI to see what's going on. From there, try physical therapy. It can help sort out a lot of problems and give you the tools (i.e., exercises) to maintain your back health.

i am 6 weeks post op and yes my back has been killing me. i use a heating pad and sometimes icy hot. i understand what you are going thru. i have arthritis and have lost quite a bit of weight and in my case i t hink its just all that weight has been shifting. in the last week my pain has decreased which is good. hang in there. i do understand
So sorry. I had sciatica after my gastric bypass for several months, until my weight got down substantially and I could walk more. I had massage, which killed me, but it helped. I think for me, walking through it was what helped most, but I know it is so very painful.

Just an update.
The muscle relaxers did did nothing but make me feel high. Went to the er yesterday and all they did was a sonogram on the leg. No blood clots at least. They gave me a different pain pill. It helps for a bit. I was told to wait a bit more to let it heal. They wouldn't do an X-ray. I will wait a bit more and then try to get into my regular pcp that is out of town this week.
My leg is swollen as shown.
