Upper gi vs endoscopy

I am not saying that I will not dump, sneeze, get a runny nose, vomit, dump, gain weight, or be miserable, but I can overeat if I choose to do so and willing to pay the consequences.

You two have done an exceptional job of staying with the program long-term. People who are not so careful learn how to out eat their surgery and gain their weight back.

There are many *****gain all of their lost weight by ten years out. Probably half regain 50% of their lost weight. It is very possible to overeat, especially sliders and high carbs.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find 15 year peers that only eat protein and raw vegetables. Most, if not all regainers will be eating predominantly carbs in the form of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and processed foods.

Well, earlier I did not go into why I stick with foods that I eat on a regular basis. I have three different bowel diseases - Microscopic Colitis (cells seen only under a microscope), IBS-D (D=diarrhea) and Diverticulosis. The first two cause horrible issues with the bathroom. Before these were under control I was forever looking for restroom places or being in my home and now condo. I have had three hospitalizations for a blocked bowel due to adhesions (now repaired). A person that goes through what I have medically will eat the way that will keep horrible symptoms at bay. I have been through a couple times of Diverticulitis and never, never want to go through that again. Thank you mom and dad for giving me all your bodily issues.

Rice - do not eat as it does not agree with me.

Potatoes - rarely eat. Maybe 1-2 times a year.

Pasta - never really cared foSIGHr it even pre op.

Bread - I will admit I have toast with my egg most mornings. Whole grain for me.

The reason I eat as I do is to make sure I do not end up with issues with my bowels and that I continue to be successful with my weight loss and keep it off.

My husband is so paranoid about gaining weight that he is so disciplined to eat correctly that he mainly only eats protein. Well, he loves green seedless grapes and Clementine oranges.

Please do not blow holes through what I have written about. It is my passion to live and eat correctly and it is what works for us, especially me.

SIGH! :(

I am not sure why you are arguing or getting defensive, because basically you are confirming exactly what White Dove and Kim are saying:

No matter what the reason that you eat the way you do, it is directly the reason you've been so successful. You are eating the way all of us should (and the way most of us who've maintained successfully do) to maintain our loss long term. It also allows for the greatest retention of the benefit of restriction.

You've done an amazing job, and that is directly due to you and your husband's dedication to disciplined eating.

Their contention of the previous posts, by the other long-term vets, is that the great majority of long-term re-gainers gain because they do not.

No idea why you're getting pissed at me, I never mentioned your name in my original reply. How about If I type a reply to someone and don't mention your name, you feel free to think it's NOT about you?

Clearly, you and your husband are not the same as the rest of us, so you do you and I'll continue offering advice to people who do not have your myriad of health problems and have not remained perfect eaters for however many years. I don't know why you have made this post all about you and your bowels, but I don't really care.

If someone posts they've followed their program perfectly, I'll leave the post free for you to pat yourselves on the back! Meanwhile, I'm not sure what you have to offer anyone that screws up, short of posting how they should be if they want to be just like you!

Edited to add: Sigh I think the wagging finger is what you meant. Keep that passive agressive nonsense to yourself. I'm not the person to tangle with!

If I had your medical conditions, I would probably eat as you do...

I am even further post op, than you are...

I am "under goal", by the scale...

I CAN eat whatever I want...

I CHOOSE not to...

Usually...

Nothing special about me :)

What works for you may not work for everyone. It's poor form to assume that everyone shares your experience.
