This was a fascinating read. I do wonder if the weight stigma is worst from female practitioners to female patients/male practitioners to male patients also (my experience it was but that's a small sample size).

Wow Cynthia...what an enlightening, depressing, frustrating, saddening, heartening article. I literally had every emotion reading that. From empathy to fear to sadness to hope. Thank you for sharing it. There is literally so much I want to comment on but can't yet. I have to process it. Thank you again, so much.
Excellent article Cynthia. Thank you for sharing it!

Just after reading this, I was looking at last month's Oprah magazine. One of their major features was plus size clothing and models, highlighting a number of issues which somewhat dovetail with this article. For instance, there was a lot of discussion about NOT having a separate "Plus-size" department and having all women's clothing together (including having the same styles available in ALL sizes). I remember resisting buying new clothing for a long time once the "regular" sizes were too small. I was strangling in them before going to the "other" department. I love the idea of integrating the departments (and removing the negative labeling). This should apply to children's clothing as well.

I used to like to shop on zulily for that reason- not everything but many of the same styles went from xs to 3x. I think it was Dress barn for awhile years ago integrated their departments and then went back to separate plus size even though they have many of the same styles.
