Band slipped and eroded

Hi

I had the lap band in 2007 and have had lots of problems in the last year Vomiting almost each time I eat excessive acid reflux and regain of 80#s in just 6 months. I had an EGD and a barium swallow today and my band has slipped and is severely eroded. They also said that the slippage of the band caused a pouch which was filled with solid foods for awhile they said that the food was fermented ?I go to see a Bariatric surgeon in the morning to get a date for removal of the band. I hope he can perform the gastric bypass at the same time. Anyone with any of these symptoms please seek medical attention right away unlike myself

Sadly, we've seen this story a gazillion times.

Good luck. You are going to be so, so happy when you've had this revision.

I went through something similar with the band. Horrible surgery! Sorry you are going through this.

I've seen many people go through your nightmare over the years. I'm sorry you're suffering. Many surgeons prefer to let the stomach heal for about six months before revising. It probably depends most on the condition when they get inside.

My band did not slip or erode but I did develop GERD and had it removed. My surgeon doesn't do same day RNY surgery because she wants healing to take place but I have read here that a lot of surgeons do. My band was removed in August of 2017 and my RNY was December of 2017. I wish you luck and hope that you are feeling better soon.

Hi

Thank you all for your tips and concerns and prayers I appreciate it I will be going in Monday, October 1 to have the lap band removed and hopefully everything will go well doctor wants to wait three months for my stomach to heal before doing the revision surgery which I guess is probably the best a little nervous for the surgery but I'm sure everything will come out right thank you all again
