Late period

It is not the best time to get pregnant but it is totally doable. In a perfect world you would want to wait for a year after you hit goal. But the world isn't perfect and stuff happens.

You really need to get a test, if you choose the drug store pregnancy tests you want a first AM urine sample, that is when it is the most accurate.

Women seem amazingly fertile after surgery, before they even hit goal. I have read many posts from women who tried for years and could never get pregnant and months after WLS, bammo! A baby!

Have you considered other types of BC where forgetting a pill isn't a big deal? IUD, implant, or if you are done having kids (I don't know your cir****tances) then vasectomy/or burning your tubes. If you are done having children I'd opt for the permanent solution. Never fret over it again. Also, you wouldn't have to take synthetic hormones that you may not otherwise need. Or, if you like/want/need the pill just find a way that you won't forget.

Years and years ago they make BCPs soooo strong it really did not matter if you missed a pill here and there. In those days (early 80s) they did not know it takes such a small dose to do the job. But today they are not anywhere near as strong as they were way back when so it is not nearly as safe to miss a dose.

I second this, right before surgery I decided to try the IUD. A month after surgery I was kind of missing the pill but my OB told me the pill isn't really recommend post op because of the decreased absorption. I did not get the pill back, but the IUD works great and if you can stick it out for 6 months does decrease period flow and frequency.

Maybe you can look in to alternative forms of birth control if this turns out to be a false alarm? At the very least I'd have a talk with my surgeon/OB about all this because it sounds like not everyone is warned of the decreased pill effectiveness.

Either way, best of luck!

Go get a test. Most surgeons tell their patients to use at a minimum 2 types of birth control.

With the rapid weight loss your BC pills may not be strong enough.

I can't even remember if my surgeon talked to me about this! Could be she brought it up and I told her I had the IUD and we moved on. I really can't recall.

How about her husband using a form of birth control so that she isn't solely responsible?
