Where did the summer go? What worked, what didn't?
The older I get the one thing that amazes me is how fast time is flying by. Taking time to reflect helps us stay on track. What worked, what didn't. How could I have done better, what do I want to change.
Looking back on your summer, what knocked your socks off, what do you want to do better?
What knocks my socks off is all the things I can do. Before weight loss surgery I could barely move. Summer reminds us of all the possibilities. If you are just starting out make a list of what you will be doing next summer
What I could do better? I let carbs creep in too much! I could say it was the carb devil but no it was me, myself and I

I kept up a regular regimen of yoga 3 times a week and feel like I have gained a lot of flexibility, strength and some calm from it. I think I was good at planning and sticking to daytime medl plans. But I definitely succumbed to too many carby snacks in the late afternoon or evening, especially the latter. I was better at planning those snacks pre-summer so I need to get back into that mold.

I it when members take the time to share. It's appreciated as we all have very little time LOL I have heard nothing but good things about yoga and really want to start doing it. My one and only experience with when we tried to do the turtle thing where you rock and it up? Well, I tried over and over again and could not for the life of me get up. I was like a turtle on his back and trying to flip. It was so funny I laughed so hard the instructor gave that Mom look
Your post has motivated me to try again! Thanks for sharing and I so get the carb thing!!!

The yoga I go to is called "Gentle Yoga", so you just do what your body allows. But over time my body is allowing more. I call it "old lady yoga" but it makes me feel less like an old lady. I feel a little like it is ongoing physical therapy for my entire body in s way...

I chipped, chipped, chipped away at my regain. It has surprised me how determined I am, ok, maybe obsessive is a better word!
I've kept up my exercise - also become a little obsessive as I now feel guilty if I take a day off.
I've developed a bit of a shopping habit that I need to rein in. I have wardrobes FULL of clothes I can now get into, I don't really need any more!
All in all, a good summer, which I'm not really ready to give up yet. Pumpkin spice is not my thing, but I will look cute in my skinny jeans and boots in 6 weeks or so!

What's really worked for me is keeping an array of grab and go things for work and for my sanity. Usually they aren't as great as if I make it all myself, but I do not have that kind of drive in the kitchen all the time! I love being able to grab a salmon burger, chicken sausage, anything to fix up and go!
What hasn't worked is the same hobbies I used to have were enough. They aren't t anymore. I still love video games and reading, but now I want to be outside and doing things!
I surpassed my surgeons goal weight by 15 lbs a few months ago. I've been stalled for the last 8 weeks and I know it's because carbs have creeped back in at night... I need to adjust and get back on track with my sugar free jello with whip cream dessert and toss out the carbs. Everything else has been going great... carbs be evil man
