Sore throat from acid reflux?

i must admit I've been dealing with a lot of acid reflux. It hasn't been constant but at least three to five days a week for about a month. I'm dealing with a sore throat on and off. I thought it was allergies so I didn't think to connect the two. tonight it feels like a chemical burn and it has a bad taste to it(trying not to be nasty). I'm not asking for a diagnosis as I plan on calling my surgeons office tomorrow first thing. I'm just wondering if this is common for acid reflux sufferers?

If so is there anything that might help relieve the sore throat?

The few times that I had bad reflux, it indeed caused a sore throat. I just tried to drink cool water. Is the sore throat nonstop?

It has been on and off for a week or so but now it's feeling bad since yesterday.

A teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water. It will soothe the burning in your throat and neutralize the acid. Three to five times a week is a lot of reflux. You can be damaging your esophagus and setting yourself up for cancer.

If you are VSG, you may need to see about revising to RNY, but definitely see a doctor about this.

Getting rid of the sore throat is obviously important. But fixing the cause of the reflux is much more vital. Long term effects are literally life threatening from esophogeal cancer.

Are you on a PPI? You should be, but the dosage or type may be wrong for you. Many people have to make adjustments to find something that works.

I had a really bad sore throat problem when I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and severe Gerd. I take Prilosec. It really helped me. My endoscopy had shown my esophagus was very burnt from the acid.

I took a prilosec last night and it helped but the throat still feels burned. Hope to get an answer on a p,an of action soon.

Try taking Zantac at night. Better for overnight acid.
