I did not feel the need to board my pets. I had three dogs and could care for them right away. I did not have the pain after surgery many have though, so found I could walk and move a bit easier early on.
also, what a handsome boy!
Between my husband and myself we have four dogs and a cat. One of our dog is a bit of a handful and he's all mine...because of that I boarded just him for a week so my husband didn't have to deal with him. He went to a friend who runs a in home daycare and will let dogs she knows board.
Glad you're getting him back today!

I am glad you boarded him so you could focus on healing. We do not know how we will respond to surgery so I say it is a good choice to board. I would have definitely done it if I lived alone or in an apartment or somewhere without a yard.
I hope you are feeling better now. Happy healing!!

He will be so happy to see you then. I'm sure you would have loved puppy snuggles but it's also good that you made sure you could focus on you and that he was somewhere to get good care if you needed extra sleep, etc.

What a cutie! Yes, you both will be happier once you are together again, but it probably was prudent to allow yourself some time to recover a bit.
We have cats and I had a friend come in a few days a week to help with the litter and cleanup. The bending and lifting just weren't possible at first.
The other problem that I found is that my cats (and probably a dog) wanted to lay on my belly because they knew I was sick. They also wanted to walk around my feet making it an easy trip hazard. You might want to cover your belly with a small pillow when you are sitting and lying down to protect it from paws.
Otherwise, puppy kisses will definitely help the healing!

Yes, we love our furr-kids and they love us so much. They want to make us feel better and comfort us in the ways they know how...kisses, snuggling, sitting on our lap, lying on us, just being close. Like kids, they don't understand our limits though so you have to be careful and protect your tender bits. My cats love to "make biscuits" on my belly and for weeks that hurt like crazy unless I covered my belly with the pillow. In the end we were both happy and no real injuries occurred.
All the best with your healing! Remember to sip lots of fluids (SF popsicles count!) and do lots of slow gentle walking. Both will help you heal and keep things moving!
Kisses and scritchies to your sweetie! And hugs to you!
