Yes! I look forward to being able to go to a spa and wear a robe in the common area with it totally tied shut.

Love reading these. So inspirational!

As a newbie and a heavyweight, mine are pretty modest. Yesterday I wore a shirt that was too snug on me pre-surgery (so I never wore it); now it's a loose fit. I also noticed this week how much easier stairs have gotten for me; no more knee pain and much less heavy breathing.

Also, it struck me the other day that I'd lost exactly 55lbs since starting Optifast 10 weeks ago. That's crazy to me. I'll be sorting through and trying on old clothes next week.

Kamac, I love all of this except that you think it's "modest". I am early in my journey, too. But one thing that is clear is that some of the best things about it are the "little" things that add up to big shifts in the overall quality of life. Reduced knee pain and tackling stairs easier are a big deal. Being able to wear smaller clothes and get rid of bigger clothes is a big deal. Think of all the mental space that hover around these things (will I be embarrassed if I try those stairs when everyone hears me breathing? Will I have something okay to wear to X event?). It's not just the NSV itself. It is also all the thoughts and feelings that surround them.

Thanks, PCBR. What you say is true. It is these small differences that keep me motivated.

And yes. All of these give me a spark of energy. They are visions of a better existence. For me, weekends pose potential eating dangers, and these NSVs help keep my eyes on the prize.

Plus, the world can be dark and troubling. These little glimpses of happiness can really help!

Amen in the weekends being potentially dangerous. Idle hands...

Had to do a work event -- go kart racing; for the first time in many many years, I didn't have to call around to understand the weight limits, the seatbelt length, etc so that I could plan ahead to NOT do the activity or find a way out of the event. Just showed up with everyone else and hopped right in.

That must have made your spirit lighter. How nice to lay down that mental burden.

Yes!!! It's so much work being heavy; people who have never been don't understand!

So true! I wish everyone could live at least a day as an obese person.
