That is awful.... I am sorry they are not more supportive especially your Mom. She should be your biggest fan (coming from a Mom to teenage girls). Hang in there and come here to share. I recently found a nice WLS community on instagram that is good.

Congrats Lina on how well you have done!! Don't let anyone steal your joy or burst your bubble. It is their problems not yours.

My mom pretents to forget that I can't eat some food. I know this weekend I'll offer to bring her dinner for her birthday and to eat with her. I'll give her a list of places I can run by and she'll pick something I can't eat... So, I'll buy that and take it to her but not get anything for myself. She'll act all sorry and I'll let it go because she's my mom, and honestly it's not worth the fight. I've tried buying or bringing stuff I can have and then she wants that... preparing myself before hand helps me deal with it.

I look at the support I do have my Aunt who is 11 years out and still maintaining her goal weight, my brother & sisiter-in-law, and my wonderful husband! They are the ones who ask and are so happy for me! I have seen my brother since I lost my last 90lbs and I can't wait to see him in November! He'll be sooo happy! I get to see my Aunt in a few weeks and I know she'll be super happy.

Last, I changed surgeons offices because mine didn't have a support group. I know us a different office that has them twice a month and it's help so much. If you don't have any support ask you surgeon, if they don't have anyting see if another WLD around you does. They might be willing to work with you even if you had the surgery someplace else.

Good luck!

Liz

I'm glad that you have supportive family members to balance what sounds like a passive aggressive mom.

I'm sorry that your mom isn't more supportive, just realize that she has flaws and limits just like anybody else. While it's nice when your mom has your back realize that even she has limits. Maybe it's just an off day or maybe there's other things going on in her life that she might not be sharing with you. Maybe she has her own weight issues?

Unfortunately, my mom is a very passive aggressive person who enjoys drama. I help her out when I can and I have firm boundaries, she's just not a very nice person to her family. I love her because she's my mom and she was mostly normal when I was growing up. I don't expect any different from her so I don't get disappointed.
