Pouch reset w/ endurance training

We can eat more, the further we get from surgery. A few bites here or there start to add up. The slow creep is real when we are not being honest with ourselves about how much we are eating. Weigh or measure your portions and make sure you know how much you consuming. Track every bite.

Chris, Nice to see you! I hope the little one is doing well!

I (and a bunch of us) sometimes do AMAW or CAMAW to get rid of carb cravings and drop a few. AMAW = all meat all week (so all dense protein). CAMAW = critters and meat, so includes by-products of critters like dairy (milk, eggs, cottage cheese for example).

Here is a link to a couple of threads when we did it as a group (with guidelines and results):

Hi Liz! You as well! Been poking around every few weeks seeing whats going on.

She's doing AWESOME. 8 months old in two days, its completely flown by.

Just opened those links, going to give them a read, thank you!

Was thinking during my run last night, hate to admit when I'm wrong, but people are def right. I need to track/weigh my food. I havent done that in a long time...

Heres some photos of the little one (in order from newest to oldest going back a few months), and also one of my mother and I from my sisters wedding in Italy this past May :) The baseball picture was from this last weekend at a WLS meetup from Instagram in Tampa

First pictures are great. That baby. Adorable

I didn't read everyone's responses but I'll throw my 2 cents into the ring. :)

The pouch reset is really a mental reset. The whole purpose is to get you back to paying attention to what you are eating- getting rid of the extras- and that usually means snacking and too many starchy carbs.

I am not a long distance runner but run, do HIIT, yoga and weight lifting usually 6 days a week. I do have a range in my calories and add 200 calories on heavy workout days, mostly in the form of carbs. My carb range including fruits and veggies is up to 100 on low days and up to 150 on higher carb days.

I have changed my diet drastically in the last year for various medical reasons and adding the carbs including fruits and veggies was huge. I do feel better. That being said I couldn't do it at the expense of protein. The point is to build muscle not lose it. With the size of our pouch/sleeve it would be hard to get enough protein in eating mostly veggies. I have added usually a scoop and a half of protein powder into my day to keep my protein up. ½ scoop in overnight oats and a scoop later on in the day.

The protein is important because you want fat loss not muscle loss.

Maintenance is not for sissys. The rules during weight loss are standard issue and buck up and follow the program. Maintenance you have to figure out. This is the long game- the marathon not the sprint. Stabilize and chip at the weight slowly.

I would suggest doing trend weight (you can get around having to use a smart scale) or someone recently mentioned to me an app Happy Scale. Rather than focusing on daily fluctuations it gives you an average.

Good Luck

Just finished going thru them. Some really good points, thanks again for posting.

Going to take a hard look at my intake. It mentions a lot about overeating thinking you need it, which I def would agree I probably indulge some after my long runs. Mentions adding in a strength training day as well, which I havent done anything with weights in a long long time, so I may try to figure something out since I canceled all my gym memberships

Thanks again! :)
