Truer words were never typed! My husband and I were buffet buddies. We were talking about lunch while we were eating out for breakfast. I had surgery and he didn't, I am hear to be blessed to watch my grand-babies grow up and he is not.

What a gift you are not only giving your nieces and nephews crazy aunt but the gift you are giving yourself. Take it one day at a time and you got this! We are here for you!

My kids were 3 and 5 when I had my RNY. I did not want them to grow up always being made fun of for having a fat mom. Growing up is hard enough without that added stress.

Also not having many pictures of me with my kids when I was obese breaks my heart. I try to make up for that now, to their dismay

My girls were about the same age (4 and 6 actually) when I had my surgery. I remember my youngest who to this day has no filter telling me in her loving and adorable way before I had surgery "mommy your belly is just like Santa Claus!" I remember laughing but feeling a little bad even though she was like 3!

Ever hear this saying?

If a woman tells you that you're ugly, she's jealous.

If a man tells you that you're ugly, he's mean.

If a child tells you that you're ugly, you're ugly.

Why does it amaze me when I read someone's reply and see myself. My son got into a fight on the bus because they were making fun of his fat a** Mom that had walked with him to the bus stop. It broke my heart and I had his Dad drive him for the rest of the year.

So true on the photos!

Thank you for sharing

Not having people notice you like they did before (I was much smaller back in the day) so when I gained weight I noticed I started to become invisible.

People assuming that you must eat a ton of food or eat all the time

Doctors assuming everything wrong with you has to do with your weight

Feeling my stomach touch my leg

Shaving is much harder

Being out of breath

Depression

Not wanting to do things because of my size (dancing, amusement parks, etc)

Jeans and some clothing can be at times pretty uncomfortable

I could seriously go on and on

I can't believe I am typing this.

I almost think it's worst to have experienced what it's like to be "normal" and then gain weight and lose "normal" compared to never having known

Oh yes! They don't call it ignorance is bliss for nothing. Although, I never felt "normal" because nothing was ever good enough then. I hope this time I can be more comfortable in my own skin the smaller I get and honestly, not take it so much for granted as I did.
