New Netflix Show Insatiable Accused Of Being Fatphobic
Aw, thanks! But I never felt small and worthless. I knew I had worth! It's just that no one else cared because...FAT! I felt hated and unappreciated. To be fat is to be invisible and highly visible at the same time. What made me sad is the early education it gave me. See, I was a highly-intelligent, verbal, funny kid---excellent grades, advanced classes, etc. I knew that I had a lot to be proud of. However, I found early that no matter how capable you are, most of the world sees (and judges you) as a fat person first. Do people get over it and see that you're a total human if they get to know you? Sure! But the #1 first assumption is lazy, stupid, and shiftless. Of course there are exceptions, but discrimination against fat people, particularly economic discrimination, is well-documented.

I don?t understand the mentality that says ?I don?t like it, so no one else can?. I understand it even less when it?s essentially ?I don?t like the idea of it, so you can?t even see it? ? especially when we?re talking about television/movies/books. If I don?t need like something, I don?****ch it. I don?t care for shows like the bachelor, so I don?****ch, but I don?t care that other people do.
for that alone, I think Netflix should ignore them.

I did not read all the replies. From my perspective, TV is a waste of time. There are way more things to do that are more profitable. I read fiction for entertainment. Fiction is probable more reliable than TV too.
While this is true for many, the fat activists who feel this way aren't really following their own doctrine. The central principal of fat activism is bodily autonomy, and that no body is an inherently "bad body". Anyone who does not respect our bodily autonomy and calls themselves a fat activist is a wild hypocrite.

Yup. And there's a lot of hypocrites out there. And also the ones that deny that their weight doesn't affect their health because of their perfect blood work, never mind the fact that they need a CPAP or a knee replacement by the time they're 30. Oh, and their weight doesn't affect anyone else, especially the nurse who hurt their back trying to turn or lift them when they're in the hospital recovering from a foot amputation caused by the Type 2 Diabetes they didn't bother to control.
Frankly, the whole group makes me tired.
