New Netflix Show Insatiable Accused Of Being Fatphobic

I don't believe we know the half of how much we are tracked and monitored as citizens. Ed Snowden gave us a glimpse, but I doubt those shenanigans have stopped just because noone else has whistle blown since.

Social media and the Internet shape how we think and are proven to have allowed Russia to manipulate us (and no, maybe not in choosing Trump, but in making us a divided society, which if you are politically active, you'll know is still happening, whatever Trump/Putin will have us believe).

Ive been in the US for 17 years and I wouldn't recognize it from when I came here, I can't imagine what a citizen born here thinks. Europe is no better.

I saw this trailer a few weeks ago and have it bookmarked so I dont miss it!
I'm excited to watch a show about someone who is growing up like I DID...I think it's the opposite of fat shaming- it's showing the perspective of a girl going through what may be the hardest time in a person's life socially and emotionally and what kind of an impact being an overweight teen and bullying can have.
I think there are far more shows out there that actually DO fat shame--making underhanded jokes, etc...this one I think might do something good. maybe give other kids struggling with obesity someone to relate to.

I agree artchikk

I HATED gym class, not the fact it put the focus on how big I was and how little I could do because of it... It was the snide remarks, laughing and oinking noises from the other kids while I was trying so very hard to be invisible.

As a veteran of the "Presidents Physical Fitness Test", I know how you feel. That was a pointless exercise in public humiliation.

The worst for me PCBR was trying to climb the rope. Do you remember how we had several lines and each person in front of the line had their turn on the rope in front of them? I would try so hard and didn't get up one inch, while others were climbing like a bug LOL

When I lost weight and started working out at the gym, one of my weight loss bucket list items was being able to do pull ups. Happy to report I did more than one LOL.... Crossed that one off

I went to high school in the 80s and I was the biggest girl. We had swimming as a requirement. We had to wear the schools bathing suits. All of the girls were dark navy. Mine was bright aqua.

as a mother I would have never allowed my child to wear the schools bathing suits. So disgusting.

Inhad my period every week wink wink. So I wouldn't have to go swimming.

I was a victim of fat-shaming cruelty that ranged from unintended, to casual, to utterly vicious (other kids, parents, teachers, random a-holes yelling from cars). Because fat peoples' stories are hardly ever told, I don't even think most non-fat people could ever conceive of how incredibly ****ty the world tends to treat us. And to add a level suck, when body size goes down, people suddenly treat us like humans (ie, not disgusting and invisible at the same time)---Which messes with your head, because you've actually been pretty much the same person the whole time. Any story that shows that, I'm all for. I love that this main character isn't seduced by the sudden, nice treatment she gets.
