Interesting Article about Humidity and Weight
I always wonder if I have some extra water weight when it is really hot and humid (of course I hope that is the case when my weight is up a bit - LOL). This article seems to back up the hypothesis that it could be true: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/experts-body-wieg ht-ambient-temperature/

This is interesting ... but I?m a bit concerned. Is five lbs max water or other weight that is so worrying for you?
I?m sure you?re thinking well this grrl doesn?t care how much she weighs ... essentially doesn?t even own a scale but I do wear REALLY body showing clothes every day ... I know my accurate weight from the docs weigh-ins I just won?t beat myself up when I exercise and my muscles fill with water .
weight is an indicator of health of course but it isn?t EVERYTHING . As I?ve said many times here - weighing and measuring counting calories all kind of smacks of anorexia and /or unsustainable metabolism wrecking ? dieting ?.im VERY unsure this is the ? only? or ?correct? way to prevent regain post op . Frankly counting calories seems crude, primitive and irrational considering all that?s been learned in the last twenty years regarding metabolism and the inadvisability of dieting.
not to mention that most people who try to count calories underestimate their intake by 50 percent to two thirds - so there's ZERO accuracy ( now I'm gonna duck lol)
I have to watch the scale - it's the only truly good measure for me and I am a tracking, spreadsheet kind of person. I'm generally only up 1-2 pounds (possibly) on a humid day...

That's fascinating! I'd love to see something similar on the effects of flying on water retention as there seems to be a lot of anecdotal support for impacts (i.e., many people have to take off their rings, loosen their shoes because of temporary swelling). Thanks for sharing!

Good point! I do find that I am a little swollen when flying too.

Absolutely true for me -- flying (especially intercontinental long-haul flights) really elevate my scale for a couple of days.
Of course, those flights are usually preceded by some "celebratory eating and drinking."

Flying or even long car trips always make me retain water. Even when I get up and try to walk when I can. When flying or driving, often lower part of my body is swollen- retaining water. The lack of movement, plus crunch down position - does not promote good blood circulation.
I learned a long time ago to wear very comfortable shoes and never take them off in mid flight, because I would not be able to put them back on. Boots are bad - because not only my feet are swollen but also my legs.

Normally I'd want to jump right on board with this article- seems totally plausible. But this happens to be one of the most ridiculously humid weeks of the summer and my weight also happen to be at the lowest it's been all summer.
So maybe, my weight will be even lower when the humidity drops!!
