Non-fattening cheap and delicious potato croquettes
I could INHALE half a dozen Italian deli potato croquettes pre op -
try this very inexpensive and easy to make recipe ( best in an air fryer though the oven works fine too ) ( small batch - food is best made fresh)
3 baking potatoes microwaved 15 minutes and peeled ( cool in cold water - skin peels right off ) mash with potato masher add in butter buds ( fat free freeze dried butter solids) if you like
make sauce - 1/2 packet Alfredo sauce mix four cheese sauce mix or even garlic herb are all good . Use fat free half and half or reconstituted powdered milk and make it thick . Add sauce to potatoes . Add fat free mozzarella and Parmesan/ reggianio to taste if you like ( I do ! )
Form logs and roll in Italian spice breadcrumbs ... bake ! ( recipe makes 16 smaller croquettes or 10-12 commercial size ones )

Thanks for running the math.
As post-ops, we should be shooting for 10g protein (or more) per 100 calories, and keeping carbs low. These potato bites are a terrible choice.

Thanks for the breakdown.
That part about eating 2 or less is funny. The first year after surgery, we're all pretty good about eating 2 of something. We can count out 6 peanut M&Ms, or 2 crackers, etc.
After that, the morbidly obese beast inside starts crawling back out. We eat ALL the cheesy potato croquettes, then we rob a gas station to get more potato croquette money.
Just say no. Well never be truly happy with any of that crappy kind of food. Remember where it got us.
