Weighing Habits?

When I was losing weight I would weight a couple of times a week. There was a time when I got obsessed with the scale and my husband took it and hid it from me. I told my friends to watch the local channels for a Homicide reported in Plainfield. Wife kills husband for not revealing where abouts of scale. I was that nuts about it.

Now that I am long term I don't do the scale. I go by how I feel and my clothes. If I feel I have gained I get on the scale (I have an old doctors scale from the 80's, Old is better) and then weigh until I am back to where I want to be.

I weigh myself every morning that I am home. I tell myself that only the Wednesday one ?counts? ((my surgery was on a Wednesday so that lets me measure in ?weeks?) but I still weigh myself every day.

1st thing every morning, after I pee, butterball naked! How is that for quirkiness?

Quirky, but not weird. I also pee before I weigh and I will weigh myself buck naked occasionally, but since I weigh myself in the locker room at the YMCA, I only do it when I'm sure there is nobody else in there.

I guess its because I'm self-conscious, but I'm not sure why it matters though...... the old retired guys at the Y always weigh themselves naked no matter how many guys are in the locker room....in fact they like to stand around buck naked for 20-30 minutes at a time and carry on conversations with each other. I suppose when you get to that age you just don't give a damn about what others think anymore.

Lolol @ the guys standing around naked holding conversations. Glad I'm not the only one who likes to weigh naked. I think it is the only way to be truly consistent. That 1/2 to 1lb of clothing matters to meeee!!! I don't even like my hair wet when I weigh. I get really excited if I poop in the morning(sorry for the TMI), so that I will be extra light.

I went through a long period, post-op, where I would only weigh in the morning if I'd pooped. :P Now, whatever.

I've also stopped caring when I get weighed in doctor's offices. Shoes on? Whatever. Coat? Sure. Says 10 pounds more than my scale at home? Who cares. The only number I care about is the number from my home scale that I use (almost) every day.

Since 2.5 months pre-op (over 4 years ago) I've weighed every morning when I'm home.

I have only one scale that I weigh on.

I weigh right after arising, after my first pee of the day, butt-naked, with no jewelry on and wearing always the same pair of glasses.

I step on and off a couple of times to make sure the weight is the same. Spoiler: It usually is. ;)

And for the record, it does not freak me out in any noticeable way to weigh daily. I'd rather know what it is, not stick my head in the sand. Once I've weighed, I know and don't worry about it any more.

However, I also record my Monday morning weight in an Excel spreadsheet I've kept since 2.5 months pre-op.

In that Excel spreadsheet I also record my monthly weight on the 18th of each month (I had WLS on August 18, so that's a monthly result).

AND I record on that Excel spreadsheet my home weight measurement on my annual surgiversary date.

AND I also record my weight on my annual visit at my bariatric doctor's office -- measured on their scales, of course.

AND I graph all these weekly and monthly weights in Excel.

Typed out like this, it does sound a little obsessive.

Grinning happily. ;)
