How often did you have to go to the medical center before surgery?

I thought I would pop back in in case anyone else might like to hear another answer to this question. Since asking, I found out that I have to have 8 pre op classes, plus enough other appointments that I will have to drive there a total of a dozen times before surgery.

We also have to announce our weight in front of everyone at each group meeting which I think is an unnecessary invasion of privacy, but I seem to be accepting this humiliation as yet another hoop I have to jump through to get what I want. Still, I wonder what the purpose of this is? I get the medical professionals, but why my classmates? Thoughts?
